Holistic trauma informed Massage & emotional transformation

Kia Ora, I am
abigail florence

founder of Florence Therapies.
I’ve been practising as a certified health practitioner for over 11 years, starting at Melbourne Institute of Massage and Myotherapy.
I provide trauma informed massage and emotional facilitation to support life's challenges.
As a certified Remedial Massage Therapist based on Aotea (Great Barrier Island), with over a decade of experience, I have witnessed how intentional touch, self-treatment techniques and safe emotional spaces can create meaningful and lasting change in pain and discomfort.
Massage menu
If you feel overwhelmed by the choices available don't stress!
Abigail will take you through some questions on the day, together creating a plan for your massage including the most effective of styles or combination of massage styles to best suit your needs.

Remedial
If you have muscle tension, restricted movement or chronic pain this may be for you. Your practitioner will use clinical treatment techniques to help restore conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, rotator cuff injuries, bursitis pain, micro tears and more with the goal of reducing pain and increasing range of motion.

Relaxation
Relaxation massage helps to soothe the body with slow flowing movements that destress tired muscles and allow space for the mind to clear. Relaxation massage often helps in processing emotions, easing the stress of busy lifestyles and trauma trapped within the cells.

Deep Tissue
If you are experiencing general muscle tightness due to work, heavy lifting, repetitive movements or other activities this slow, deep, deliberate manipulation of muscle tissue, trigger points and the myofascial connective tissue system focuses on releasings knots and increasing blood flow.

For people feeling stuck in chronic pain, grief, overwhelm, or the lasting effects of past trauma. Uses trauma-informed touch, guided breathing, and, at times, guided imagery to support safe emotional release, integration, and reconnection to self.

Sports
The aim of sports massage is to enhance performance, reduce muscle tension, promote circulation, desensitise trigger points and symptomatic tissue, as well as to reduce structural muscle thickening, adhesions and connective tissue. Injury prevention and injury care to aid faster recovery.

For expectant mothers with low-risk pregnancies past the first trimester. Uses supportive techniques to ease aches and pains, reduce swelling, promote deep relaxation, and improve sleep.

"Fantastic experience as I’ve been having allot of knee and leg issues. Specifically targeting and releasing the muscle stress points made a massive difference. One of the if not the best massages I’ve had. Highly recommend you try for yourself."

Seagar Clarkson
Owner of Motu Bikes
Abigail is very knowledgeable and professional - I've seen her a couple of times now when niggly aches just won't go away. She's sorted them out and given post care stretch and self massage recommendations which were super helpful.
Hinetītama
Business Owner
“We worked through the grief of multiple miscarriages when trying for a baby with my partner. It opened up a whole new experience and allowed our children to share their sadness around loosing siblings they were so excited to meet, clearing the fear to try again and replacing it with joy - collectively as a family. Her coaching for us is priceless."
Angela
Teacher for 30+ years
"I met Abigail at a Physio Rehab Clinic on the Sunshine Coast a few years ago. I suffer from an extreme chronic pain condition, most days it is completely debilitating. Working with Abigail regularly provided me with long stints of no symptoms at all. Her intuitive touch felt like magic to me after so many years without consistent relief."

“Having coaching with Abigail has allowed me to reclaim myself after a significant life event that had me feeling lost in my direction in life. I have and continue to see real change in my life since starting coaching with her.”

Honour the Wisdom of Your First Environment
Our bodies often carry more than physical tension. Aches can arise from daily life, but they may also reflect emotional events stored in our cells — grief, stress, life's transitions, and generational experiences, waiting to shift.
My practice blends deep tissue and relaxation techniques to enhance mobility, ease pain, and calm the nervous system.
I believe our bodies speak — and my role is to listen, while also encouraging each person to develop a deeper, more intimate relationship with their own tinana (body).
Through my mahi (life's-purpose), I aim to foster self-responsibility and care, inspiring people to address aches, movement restrictions and emotional triggers early on. By strengthening the internal lines of communication within ourselves, we cultivate connection from within — supporting a grounded, authentic relationship with ones-self, the environments and people we move amongst each day.
Because healing begins with our first environment — our tinana (body).
